Spring is here! The annual Chicagoland snowfall has tapered off; temperatures are fighting to rise and the green buds on trees and bushes will be poking out before we know it. Safe to say surviving a Chicagoland winter takes time and practice. The rewards though? They are bountiful and worth the wait.
We want people to find their forever home in a neighborhood they love with plenty of fun baked into the surrounding areas. What better way to explore potential landing spots for you and your family than a map of must-see farmers markets in the suburbs? They are both outdoor & indoor, found in the downtown area of buzzing neighborhoods and bring people from all over to sample fresh, local wares. Below is a list of seven farmers markets already open or soon to be open for Springtime.
1. Oak Park –
Opening on May 23, the Oak Park Farmers Market starts at 7 a.m. and closes at 1 p.m., running through November. This year will be their 50th year of operation! Located at 460 Lake St, one block west of Ridgeland Avenue.
2. Naperville –
Located in a beautiful historic neighborhood in Naperville, the Naperville Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon. It hosts local purveyors of fresh ingredients including seafood, beef, cheese and even organic pet treats. The address is 200 East 5th Avenue, Naperville IL 6053.
3. Hinsdale –
Another farmers market celebrating a 50th anniversary, the Hinsdale Farmers Market opens on June 15 and runs through October 12, Monday’s from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. They are located at 30 East Chicago Ave, Hinsdale IL 60521.
4. Western Springs –
The French Market in Western Springs is crafted to transport attendees from Illinois to France. Located at 914 Hillgrove Avenue, Western Springs IL, 60558 right in front of the historic water tower, this farmers market opens Saturday, June 20 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
5. Libertyville –
Ironically, this farmers market is named Mainstreet Libertyville Farmers Market! Located in beautiful downtown Libertyville, the market is situated between Cook Park and West Church Street at 413 North Milwaukee Avenue, Libertyville IL, 60048 and opens June 1 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
6. Wheaton –
Live music, jewelry and fresh bread highlight the Wheaton Farmers Market located at 250 South Naperville Road, Wheaton IL, 60187. This farmers market opens on April 11 – October 31 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
7. Lisle –
With the Prairie Walk Pond as a backdrop, the Lisle French Market is as scenic as it is accessible. Starting on Saturday, May 3 at 8 a.m. this farmers market runs through October 11.
